Antique Italian painting, from the second half of the 19th century. Work is an
oil on canvas depicting a religious subject of sacred art, ‘the Passion of Christ’, station no. VIII: Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem along the way, his mother Mary and the pious women, who will be warned by the words of Christ: “Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children” (Luke, 23, verse 28). Good pictorial quality. This painting was recently restored and colours were touched up (please see photos). There are some small defects in the colours, but the painting is preserved in overall good condition.
From a private collection, with certification in accordance with art. 64 Legislative Decree 22nd January 2004, no. 42 Code of Cultural Heritage and Landscape (Italy).
