Collector's and enthusiasts, in particular, appreciate the Sarouks imported to America from Persia circa 1900. In the 1960s, even Persians bought the carpets from the previous century back from America, as there were barely any old and antique pieces left in the motherland. In the 1970s, this carpet type was reimported to Germany. They are treated as an investment the world over. How did the "American Sarouk" come to be? In 1883, the English-Swiss company Ziegler & Co., founded its first carpet factory with the permission of the Shah in Sarouk. The Americans wanted carpets to suit their own taste. That meant carpets with a high pile. The pattern should contain large flowers and bouquets in various salmon-colours and rosewood tones. Demand grew for this type of carpet.
We guarantee that above carpet is a genuine hand-knotted oriental carpet.
