Pope Leo XVIII (in Latin: Leo PP. XIII, born Vincenzo Gioacchino Raffaele Luigi Pecci; Carpineto Romano, 2 March 1810 - Rome, 20 July 1903) was the 256th Pope of the Catholic Church (from 1878 to his death). In the history of modern age popes, he is remembered as the pope who thought that, among the tasks of the Church, there was also the pastoral activity in the sociopolitical field.
