After the famous Greek marble original, attributed to Praxiteles, discovered in 1792 and moved to the Borghese Palace, only later to be sold to Napoleon and moved to the Louvre in Paris. Assumed to be Artemis/Diana based on the type of clothing; the goddess stands fastening her robe.
The sculpture features a foundry stamp with the text ‘Réduction Méchanique - A. Collas - Brevete' and is also signed with 'F. Barbedienne Fondeur’.
Made from a good quality bronze with a warm patina.
Very good condition.
