A sturdy antique handmade Dutch silver tea strainer.
This tea-sieve is exceptionally beautiful and detailed floral decoration with old rural Dutch scenery with sailing boats, wind-mills, farms and an open-work rim.
The handle has been made in the shape of a highly detailed Milkmaid with a yoke and 2 buckets.
The milkmaid stands on a satyr.
It also has a nicely pearled rim.
The sieve has been fully hallmarked with the following silver marks:
Quality mark of the Lion.
Warranty mark of the Minerva head. Master’s mark M van Schoonhoven.
Year mark ‘P’ for 1925.
Master’s mark WL8 of the Widow Langerak, Schoonhoven
A sturdy tea-sieve. Measurements are: Diameter: 7.5 cm and Length: 12.8 cm.
The sieve is quite hefty - Weight: 42.7 g.
The entire item is in particularly beautiful and intact condition, and undented and unscratched.
This is a striking and very decorative item due to its size, beautiful shape and detailed decoration.
