Nicolas Vulpen Wiertz was born in Hilversum. His great-grandfather was Antoine Wiertz. He was a well-known Belgian painter who has a museum named after him in Brussels. Later he became a student at the academy for fine arts in Amsterdam. He was also a member of the Gooise painter’s association which also included Jan Korthals and Jan Rijlaarsdam. Because of his many trips, his works were sold worldwide. Including celebrities such as Liz Taylor and Richard Burton. Over the years, there have been several exhibitions of his work, including in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. He died in 1991 in Aubeterre (Dordogne).
He fetches high auction prices, especially abroad.
