Antique painting, oil on canvas, dateable around the end of the XVII century, depicting a wonderful young Bacchus.
This refined painting, distinguished by a textured layout with soft lines and warm colours, is attributed to an artist active in Rome for clear stylistic reasons, while the quality, the drawing and the illustrative aspects allow relevant comparisons with the works of Abraham Brueghel (Antwerp, 1631 - Naples, 1697), an artist active in Italy for most of his career, first in Rome and then in Naples.
Framed with beautiful and quite recent frame, which is golden and decorated with leaves pattern.
The painting is in good condition considering its age; with some old scattered restoration and some light peeling of the pictorial surface, but no significant damage. There are no conservation issues and the original canvas is supported by a recent re-lining that does not require restoration. The stretcher was probably replaced at the same time of the re-lining. Fine craquelure compatible with age.
Canvas size: 81.3 x 66 cm. Frame size: 101 x 85.5 cm.
