Vintage antique Karabagh rug.
In the Karabagh region, various historical circumstances have fostered the development of an ancient knotting and prestigious art of knotting.
Before being annexed to the Russian Empire (1805), the territory was part of the Persian Safavid domains, and thanks to the initiative of Shah Abbas I, one of the most powerful and munificent sovereigns, in the seventeenth century a prestigious royal factory was founded in the region, to which some of the most influential Persian dragon rugs of the 17th/18th century are attributed.
This has been kept well and is in perfect condition.
