Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen (1874-1960) was a Danish designer.
He was trained as a sculptor at the Copenhagen Academy.
In 1897 he started working at Bing and Grøndahl where he remained for twenty years as a designer. He then spent further eight years there as art director.
In 1925 he started his own factory in Copenhagen, making those porcelain pieces which he is best known for.
His pieces are the best of Danish Porcelain.
His company closed in 1984.
The piece auctioned here (number 1024) belongs to the first series of models (from 1000 to 1100) manufactured at his factory.
Length 28 cm!
The piece is dated post 1928.
It's marked with the Royal Crown and "DJ" + "Copenhagen".
It is incredibly realistic!
