Hand-made coloured opaline glass tiles, mounted in a wooden frame with a depth of 1.3 cm.
The icon has vivid colours with a modernist design that was expressive for the Catholic Church at the time.
Portrayed on the opaline tile icon is the sacred heart of Jesus Christ.
The illustration is signed with the artist’s initials at the bottom right.
On the bottom left you see the mark GvP which means "Gebroeders van Paridon" (brothers Van Paridon).
The artisanal icon was crafted in the Netherlands in the studio of the Van Paridon brothers in the 1930s. The studio was known for their opaline glass works of art.
They also worked with artists such as Jan Perey who was known for his exceptionally expressively coloured religious works of art.
