Beautiful cityscape of Amsterdam from around 1870-1890 of the 19th century. In great condition, and one of his better pieces! Willem Heijkoop was born in 1942, made and mainly made city and village views from that period. Lots of hustle and bustle on the corner of the street, probably a market day. Signed on the bottom left by the painter, and on the back is one more annotation "Amsterdam Willen Heijkoop". The frame is matching the painting in terms of colour..... But in my opinion, a beautiful lighter colour (gold leaf) would show the painting even better? But that is for the buyer to decide..... Or an enthusiast.
