Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo, alias Corneille.
From the series of the provinces, Flevoland.
Corneille was one of the founders, and one of the most important representatives, of the Cobra movement. He was a very prolific artist and has made a huge amount of paintings, sculptures and graphic artworks. Initially, he was strongly influenced by Picasso, but later developed the style features of the Corneille movement, for which Corneille is very well-known. Corneille has worked in an abstract style, but his works were more figurative from 1960 on, featuring the well-known birds, flowers, and women.
Corneille's works are part of many business, private and museum collections, of course including that of the Cobra Museum in Amstelveen and the State’s collection.
Corneille was an important and leading artist, whose works were exhibited in more than 1000 exhibitions at home and abroad, including dozens of solo exhibitions.
