Herman Heijenbrock (1871-1948) - Treinen van de rails

Description
Herman Heijenbrock (1871-1948) - Treinen van de rails
Huile sur panneau - Signé à la main - Onbekend

Special oil painting of a derailment of trains by Heijenbrock

His hundreds of oil paintings and pastels from industrial landscapes this "painter of light and labour" did not just make to create beautiful works of art. He also produced images of factories, mines, machines and the role of the worker in the production process in order to document his admiration for man's workforce, assisted by machines.

This social commitment and documentation drive have led to a unique representation of production processes in the early twentieth century. In addition to being an artist, the industry painter was also an "educator" who wanted to make people aware of his creative power through his work, without adhering to an ideological dogma. The technical and scientific autodidact Heijenbrock also wrote philosophical reflections on this. He also collected materials used in the labour process, which he housed in the Museum van den Arbeid, the predecessor of the NINT and the current NEMO science centre in Amsterdam. Part of his works are permanently exhibited in the Gemeentemuseum in Helmond and in the Zaans Museum.
