Gerard usually did not sign his paintings, sometimes his name and / or date is noted on the back. Guaranteed 100% that the painting is from G.A. Drost. It was fro a friend of the family, who owns several works by Gerard Drost.
Gerardus Albertus was born in Amsterdam on 28th January, 1895, lived and worked in this city until 1915, including Hengelo, Delft and Huizen-NH. Educated at the Technical School mechanical engineering (5 ½ yrs). As a painter largely self-taught, short time pupil of the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. Paints, watercolours, draws (pen), and etches portraits, landscapes, still lifes and cityscapes in a figurative style. Member of Arti et Amicitae; De Onafhankelijken St Lucas and De Brug in Amsterdam.
