Elias Pieter van Bommel (1819-1890) - Pendant stadsgezichten mogelijk Rotterdam
Huile sur panneau - Signé à la main - 1860-1870

Beautiful small diptych painted on panel, possibly Rotterdam, made by Pieter Elias van Bommel, born in Amsterdam on 26 January 1819 and died in Vienna on 2 June 1890. Mostly made romantic cityscapes, sometimes with some imagination, which was more often done by various painters at that time with city or seascapes. Many of his works have historical value because a lot has been lost from the beautiful buildings of the time and earlier times. Two nice works that have been framed in precious and matching Paul Gehring frames. The two works are signed separately, but so small that taking photos of it is impossible. You see, twice, a view of a river with arched bridge with people walking on the quay and on the bridges. On either side beautiful buildings and a tower of a church, and a square-like corner tower with pointed roof, and a kind of extension as a lookout. In short, beautiful historical diptych of the city in the mid 19th century.
