Description
Jurgen Bey - Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum - Objet en céramique (1) - 124 minuten theepot, niet meer in productie
Pays-Bas - Post 2000 - Faïence

The 124 minute teapot by Jurgen Bey consists of combinations of existing moulds and decorations from the company archive. Bey analysed the traditional production process and concentrated on production time. He created insight into this element of time by replacing the charcoal powder, which is normally used to dust the decoration onto the service, with a grey glaze that, unlike the powder, remains permanently on the service after firing.
In his design, he gives the painters a set number of minutes to fill in the decorations of the different parts, regardless of whether these are actually finished. The titles not only represent the duration of the hand-painting process, the minutes also became an indication for the price of the individual parts.

This teapot has been added to the permanent collections of Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam, and Museum of Arts and Design, New York, among others.

In 2015, Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum ceased the production of this teapot. This is the last available teapot.
