Revolutions - In Girum Imus Nocte Et Consumimur Igni
The Work of Rémi Ochlik
Beautifully printed book with a loosely attached print - 235 x 197mm on matte paper- both numbered 29 / 100 and blind stamped.
This book and the subsequent quarrel ruined the journalist crowdfunding platform Empas.is. The books were subsequently stored in a garage and only some handful of the limited edition were distributed to the project's supporters. This is one of the very few copies, acquired directly back then.
"The tome depicts hope, anger, celebration and fear—some of humanity's most powerful emotions recorded in photographs—and feelings the photographer undoubtedly felt during a career cut short by the harsh realities often facing those documenting armed conflict.
Ochlik began his photography of the Arab Spring in Tunisia—and so the book does the same. "It is impressive to see the ease with which he moves through the street as the rocks fly everywhere," writes Julien De Rosa of his shared time with Rémi outside Tahrir Square in Cairo."
Ochlik died in the February 2012 bombardment of Homs during the Syrian uprising.
