The first Amsterdam street posts appeared in the street scene in Amsterdam in the 18th century and subsequently in other cities. Initially they were dark in colour, later white, but nowadays they are reddish brown. In Amsterdam The three Andrew crosses of the city coat of arms are on the posts. The posts derives its name from this. Elsewhere they are also provided with a symbol, for example two keys in Leiden, a stork in The Hague, a lion in Ghent and in many other places, such as the city coat of arms in Leuven.
Original colour, with 2 x three crosses. Slight rust forming to the bottom of the post (weld seam).
