A Neo-Grecian patinated bronze bust of Zeus, cast after a model by Émile Hébert,
(1823 - 1893).
With foundry cachet A.D on the left shoulder of the Parisian Delafontaine bronze foundry. This firm produced decorative works of art of the highest quality and was a main competitor of the Barbedienne foundry.
This bust was cast by Auguste-Maximilien Delafontaine (1813-1892), and dates from before 1884, as from that date onwards the A.D stamp was accompanied by a star. The bust is unsigned, it probably formed part of a garniture set, as can be seen in other garniture sets by Hébert featuring this bust.

Decorative objects cast by the Delafontaine foundry can be seen in the permanent collection of the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
