Max Ernst (1891 – 1976) A key member of first Dada and then Surrealism (Together with Joan Miro, Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte) in Europe in the 1910s and 1920s.
He founded the short-lived Cologne Dada movement with Johannes Theodor Baargeld and he was involved in early stage of surrealism with Paul Eluard and André Breton
This lithograph belongs to his Second French period
He mastered the alchemy of images something that allowed him to create fantastic worlds that, despite their irrationality, seem extremely real.
