Oil on canvas painting depicting the Immaculate Conception, with coeval frame.
The subject is inspired by a painting by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, known as “los Venerables” or “Immaculate Soult”, now at the Prado Museum.
In this work the artist decided to portray only the Virgin, without the angels around her, using soft and ethereal colours.
Technique: oil on canvas.
Period: Late 19th century,
Condition: well preserved with signs of ageing but nothing particular to highlight. The frame has a small chip of about 1 cm on the side, but nothing major. I am pointing it out only to be fully transparent.
Size: the canvas measures 76 x 51 cm, the painting with frame measures 85 x 59 cm.
