A finely cast figure of the Maitreya Buddha, the future Buddha, standing circa 18½cm tall and weighing 587g. The Buddha is shown seated in padmasana, his left hand held up in apana mudra, the gesture of purification. The right hand resting on his right knee with thumb and index finger extended, a scarf draped over both arms and extending beyond the lotus base to the ground. Can be dated to the 16/17th century.
Condition: Generally very good, minor damage to the crown.
