You are bidding here on a fine and early bronze figure of Amitayus from Qing Dynasty (1368-1622), date of origin circa 1770. Amitayus is a Bodhisattva.
This example of a seated Amitayus, the Buddha of Eternal Life and Eternal Light (Ch. Wuliangshoufo) was one of the 10,000 commissioned by the Qianlong emperor in celebrate of his sixtieth birthday, as well as the birthday of the Empress Dowager.
The beautifully preserved bronze is gold-plated and radiates a sublime calm - the facial features indicate an inner abstraction from the world. The Amitayus is decorated with fine decorative ribbons.
The mandorla and vase are missing.
The height is ca.20,5 cm, the weight is 902,5 g.
Provinace: Nagel auction house. From the Wünsch collection, somewhat rubbed, bottle vase lost, crown is slightly bent.
