Amida Noyrai Buddha Zushi Butsudan - Gold Gilt, Laquered Wood - Japan - Mid Edo Period 江戸時代 (early 1800s)
26cms. Good condition, see description

This is a beautiful, rare, genuine Japanese Buddhist antique from the late 18th to early 19th century, corresponding to the Edo period (江戸時代 Edo jidai) This is a laquered wood and gold gilt, Amida Nyorai Buddha Zushi Butsudan

Originally part of an old Japanese family shrine, from a old rural estate sell, imported directly from Japan by me.

The finely carved Buddha with exceptional details to the face and robes for such a small carving, has a serene expression, characteristic blue hair ( now faded) flowing robes, and a floral manora symbolizing his radiant aura behind him. His hands in benevolent mudras. He stands on a plinth mounted lotus throne, all gold gilded. The Zushi has copper/brass fittings including hinges.

A wonderful statue for the collector, altar, or an impressive interior design statement.
