NOVY is a historical brand of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles and nowadays manufactures kitchen equipment.
The company name was Ets. "Novy", Hil. Lannoy & Zonen, Courtrai (Kortrijk),
The company was founded in 1911 by former professional cyclist Hilaire Lannoy (1887-1984). He started a bicycle business in Kortrijk in 1907, but from 1911 onwards, after his cycling career, he started to produce bicycles himself under the brand name "Yonnal" (Lannoy reversed). During the First World War he had to halt production due to material scarcity. After the war, the popularity of cycling took a high flight, whereby Hilaire even needed to import bicycles from France and the United Kingdom. In 1920, Lannoy also started producing delivery tricycles, which already got the brand name "NOVY". British bikes, in particular, had a good name, and around 1930 the brand name was already "Anglicised" to "The Yonnal". Around that time, Lannoy also sold bicycles from FIAT, Torpille, Rapide and Curon.
