Ebisu (恵比須), wood (presumably hinoki or some other good wood), Japan, Edo Period featured here wearing formal court garments, fishing rod in his right hand lost to time, and a large sea bream tucked under his left arm symbolizing fortune. The statue features a beautiful time honed patina with traces of golden gilt remaining. Some wear and loss commensurate with great age including a couple ancient stable worm holes as seen in photos.
