A pair of breathtaking late 19th century sculptural vases - one featuring the head of a young woman with flowing hair gazing at a butterfly, the other stares at a flower.

Organic in shape, these four sided vases reflect two young woman, the floral decoration and the sculptured body of the vase are truely in the style of the early Art Nouveau Period and have been featured in a book on that period. The vases include the original metal liners.

The vases are signed FLORA, the signature used by Italian born Artist Francesco Flora, born in Italy in 1857. Flora was a student at the Academia di Belle Arti in Venice, working in Naples and Venice executing various projects in the style of the Art Nouveau Period including sculptured paintings, genre statues and funeral monuments for high ranking patrons.
