Lismonde was a painter, engraver, draughtsman and carpet maker, born in Anderlecht. He was a student at the Academies of Brussels (1924-30, G. Combaz, E. Fabry, C. Montald) and Sint-Joost-ten-Node. From childhood on he has been fascinated by drawing. First he devoted himself to city views and landscapes, later he evolved to abstract linear compositions. Among others he makes gestural drawings with Chinese ink. He belongs to the groups “Jeune Peinture Belge” and “Cap D’Encre”. Lismonde successfully participates in numerous national and international exhibits and does numerous decoration orders (carpets, glass windows and murals) for public buildings; among others in the Royal Library and the Metro station Pétillon in Brussels (1976). Member of the Royal Academy (1982). Work among others in the “Prentenkabinet” in Liege and in the Museums of Antwerp, Brussels, Charleroi, Elsene, Liege, Ostend, Paris, Lugano, Luxembourg, Rotterdam and Hamburg.
