¶ Everard van Reyd (Deventer, 1550 - Leeuwarden, 25 February 1602) was mayor of Arnhem and became a member of the council of the Frisian stadtholder William Louis, Count of Nassau-Dillenburg in 1584. He was also involved in historiography. In 1626, 24 years after his death, his ‘Historie der Nederlantscher oorlogen’ was published. It deals with the war of freedom of the Netherlands in the period 1566–1601. A second edition with update appeared in 1633 and the third most updated edition, offered here, in 1644. It provides a fine contemporary picture of the Eighty Year’s War between the Netherlands and Spain and is an important source of information.
