Beautiful piece by the Spanish artist, Roger Labat. Conceived as a small secular relic, it tries to represent the constant vulnerability of the human being, whose only destiny is to be truly aware of how fine is the line that separates life from death. Life is death and death is life. Eternal duality of man.
The artist uses, as usual in his work, elements that were part of other pieces already used and aged by time. Use textile or metallic elements, wood, resin, plastic, ... In an exercise to represent the passage of time as another physical element in your work, it is normal to see rust or dust on the pieces, wear, cracks, and even extinct woodworm.
The piece recalls themes as old as Memento Mori or Vanitas.
