DOMINIO DEL ÁGUILA is a family winery based in La Aguilera, a small town in the Ribera del Duero, and run by a couple formed by Jorge Monzón and Isabel Rodero, "vigneron" and architect respectively. Since 2010 we have joined our efforts to make a dream come true ...
The winery belongs to the "Denomination of Origin Ribera del Duero" and is located in the "Ecological Council of Castilla y León".
The main asset of the Domain is the vineyard: we have 30 hectares of very old vines, most of them in organic agriculture, in addition to 5 relatively young hectares (under 50 years old). We are suppliers of grapes from some of the main wineries in the region for more than 10 years.
Our passion is the vineyard! Jorge comes from a family of several generations of winemakers and his studies were based on 'Soil, viticulture and enology' at the Universities of Bordeaux and Burgundy. He has worked with prestigious wineries such as Domaine De La Romanée-Conti for more than two years. He has also worked in Spain in the Vega Sicilia Group for one year and as technical director of Bodegas Arzuaga-Navarro for nine campaigns. Since 2013 he is busy full time in Dominio del Águila.

Dominio del Águila Reserve ferments and macerates the whole plot at the same time in stainless steel tanks and with its own yeasts. With a long maceration it is transferred to French oak barrels where it performs malolactic fermentation and its subsequent aging for 35 months.
Dominio del Águila Reserva is a wine of aging, with a huge complexity that will evolve over the years.
1x Peñas Aladas ( 97 P. Robert PARKER ) comes from a specific part of an old vineyard of about 85 years old located in the town of La Aguilera. It is composed mainly of the 85% Tempranillo variety and minority varieties such as Albillo, Bobal, Cariñena etc. It was an old traditional plantation frame in which some other varieties were mixed, including some white ones.
Peñas Aladas Gran Reserva ferments with whole grapes and with its own yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is transported to French oak barrels where it remains for 55 months, slowly growing and refining in the underground caves that are in the cellar.
Peñas Aladas Gran Reserva is a red wine for keeping, a classic style in which good grapes and good aging make it a great wine.
1x Canta Perdiz 2014 ( 97+ P. Robert PARKER )is one of the most special wines of Dominio del Águila (Jorge Monzón and Isabel Rodero). It comes from the oldest vineyards of La Aguilera, located at an average altitude of about 890 meters. The soil, sandy on the surface and limestone in depth, is what brings special characteristics to the wine. Planted mainly with Tempranillo, there are also other mixed white and red varieties, including Cariñena, white of the country, Garnacha, Bobal, Tempranillo ... The vintage of all varieties -which are more than 100 years old- is carried out jointly. It was vinified in concrete tanks and stepped on with the feet. It was aged for more than two and a half years in French oak barrels. An exceptional Ribera del Duero of great guard.
