A fine brass candlestick on square base supported by four lion's feet, standing 20½cm tall and weighing 668g.
A piece of the same type is described and illustrated in Ronald F. Michaelis' "Old Domestic Base-Metal Candlesticks" and ascribed to the first quarter of the 18th century. A similar object is described in "The Brass Book", Peter, Nancy and Herbert Schiffer, page 168, illustration C, dated to circa 1710.
Condition: Dents and distortions, one tiny crack to the edge of the base, wear commensurate with age., please see photos.
