Souvenir 'Bristol Rolling Pin' pour les marins - Verre - XIXe siècle

Description
Souvenir 'Bristol Rolling Pin' pour les marins - Verre - XIXe siècle
Angleterre

These glass rolling pins were filled with gin or rum given by the wives of maritime officers if they went on a far journey.
More a bottle than a real rolling pin. The latter was also a joke.

This is beautifully crafted, a collage with all kinds of references to the wife at home and other supposedly important and topics;
Woman with scoop - the gardener, the bride, singing woman - ' surprise ', dancing
the Hussar, the Duke of Wellington, and the 'Monarch might be the name of the ship.
With the text: '
FORGET ME NOT
WHEN THIS YOU SEE.
THE MANY MILES THE DISTANCE BE.

The decorations are behind the glass on the inside and are very well preserved.
The cork is still on, the content is consumed.
