These two impressive panels are nicely carved in walnut and have a wonderful patina.
They depict scenes around the Holy Cross.
At the top of each panel there are two angels. The right panel shows the instruments of the passion, objects with which Christ was tortured and mocked in the last hours before his death. They are also called 'weapons' because Christ accomplished the redemption or the victory over sin and death with them. On the left panel there is a kneeling monk at the bottom of the cross.
The panels are from a monastery in England.
The overall thickness is approx 5 cm, but depending on the carving it can be thicker.
Shipment in consultation, costs are for the buyer.
