Woodcut by Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944). This original woodcut on cream-coloured Arches France copper print Laid paper is signed with the monogram of Kandinrky in the block on the bottom right. Dimensions 19 x 12.5 cm, paper approximately 31 x 24 cm. During the second World War (1942) well-known artists like Magnelli, Arp, Delaunay, Le Corbusier and Kandinsky, made the portfolio “10 Origin” with the help of Max Bill in Switzerland. Biography: Wassily Kandinsky (Russisch: Василий Васильевич Кандинский, Vasili Vasiljevitsj Kandinski) (Moscow, 16 December 1866 – Neuilly-sur-Seine, 13 December 1944) was a Russian -French painter and graphic artist. Initially, his painting style was expressionistic and sometimes also considered as symbolism. Kandinsky was one of the painters who gave form and philosophical meaning to abstract art in the first quarter of the twentieth century.
