It was made in France of cobalt blue Guilloche enameled silver rose cut diamonds. Two hallmarks so small that they are difficult to decipher (see photos 12-13) At the back the France mark: BREVETE - S.G.D.G. (Sans Garantie Du Governement). This means 'without any guarantee from the government' . It was by law required to be stamped on all objects with a legal patent from 1844 until 1968, especially those manufactured for export.
In all probability this jewelry was made around 1880 in Louis XV designs revival.
The secret compartment meant for a lock of hair, a tiny piece of cloth as keepsake of a beloved one.
As all antique French jewelry tested for 18K rose gold.
There are 4 round rose cut diamonds in different sizes and 20 senailles or diamond flakes. Good working c-clasp closure.
