Addy van den Krommenacker about this auction; "The auction consists of breathtaking dresses that were all worn on the catwalk during one of my fashion shows, nationally and internationally, over the past 10 years. I am parting with these dresses because I simply have no room for them any more. With a new catwalk collection every year, it is time to make a new owner happy with these dresses. Every dress in the auction has its own story, therefore, it is quite difficult to part with the dresses, but I hope the dresses get a wonderful destination."
About Addy van den Krommenacker
From a very early age, Addy van den Krommenacker (1950) has been focused on fashion. He became famous for his styling advice. In the late 1990s, his international designer clothing came to the attention of famous Dutch women, such as Willeke Alberti, Jette van der Meij and Sandra Reemer. As of 2001 the Netherlands was introduced to couture that he designed himself. His first designs were shown to the general public in 2002, during the Beau Monde Fashion Awards, after which a full haute couture collection was launched in 2003. In 2007 Addy made his international debut in Rome, at the Alta Roma Fashion Week, and his work was awarded a Look of the Year Award for best foreign designer.
Ever since 2002, Addy has been dressing many members of the Royal family. A personal highlight for Addy occurred in 2012, when he was asked to design a wedding dress for Princess Carolina de Bourbon de Parme. It was extra special that he was allowed to use lace from the wedding dress of Princess Irene, which was given to her by her mother, Queen Juliana. During the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander on 30 April 2013, a moment that went down in history, multiple princesses chose one or more creations by Van den Krommenacker. But they choose Addy's designs on other heydays as well.
In the meantime, his collection was also being sold in Germany, Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan and Dubai. From the Haute Couture Fashion Week in Rome, the International Film Festival in Cannes, to shows in Kazakhstan, Sarajevo, the Twin Tower Bridge in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Fashion Week in Perth (Australia) and the Indonesia Fashion Week in Jakarta, his feminine designs are admired the world over. Various dresses by Addy also graced the red carpet at Oscar award shows in Los Angeles. It was unique for a Dutch designer how the couturier became a central thread in the America's Next Top Model show; not only was his collection shown in 130 countries during the finale which was broadcast worldwide, but host and model Tyra Banks also wore a creation by his hand. In this same show – watched by millions of fashion lovers all over the world – Van den Krommenacker was a member of the jury.
